Oh, Christmas…
The inviting allure of festive cheer, good food and the company of those we love make this time of year one of the most celebrated holiday seasons the world over.
Many of us are familiar with the origin of Christmas as the birthday of Jesus Christ.
Beyond religion, and at its core, the celebration of Christmas emphasises, above all, the power of God’s love, our deep connection to the Great Spirit, and each other.
However, one only need look around to acknowledge that many of us have lost sight of the very essence of the holiday, instead preoccupied by excessive gift giving, overconsumption and spending more than we may need to.
So, where exactly did we lose sight of this important and profoundly spiritual message of God-centered communion?
Beyond the glittering veneer of this familiar tradition lies an opportunity for us to remember the deep significance of Christmas, extending beyond the twinkling lights and festive rituals.
Through Christ’s life, we were taught the power of generosity, unconditional love and being of service to help, heal and serve humanity.
Christmas serves as a gentle reminder, and invitation, to embody the values that Christ exemplified, encouraging us to live life with a generous heart, reach out to those in need and seek peace within ourselves, and in our relationship with the world.
The valuable opportunity to acknowledge our own divinity reminds us of the power we each have to show up for one another and make a difference to the lives of others, every day.
Whether this is through genuine connection with those we love, acts of charity, volunteering, or simply sharing a plate of food and conversation with someone less fortunate, we all have the ability to bring to form the beauty of a shared human experience that Jesus advocated for during his time on earth.
By embodying these Christ-like qualities, we not only honour the spirit of Christmas but also contribute to a kinder, more compassionate world for all beings.
The giving heart needs no accolades or praise apart from the sense of deep connection this selfless generosity brings about within oneself and with the Creator.
Above all, remember that the act of giving begins with giving to oneself.
With 2024 almost behind us, take a moment to slow down, acknowledge how far you have come and sit in gratitude for the experiences that have brought you to the end of another year.
The real gift remains the miracle of life itself and the immense privilege we all have to walk this road home, together. Let us honour this truth, and each other.
Happy holidays everyone! Much love and light to you all.
xoxo.

Reflections of You
A poem by Kirshnee Moodley
Infinitely blessed
I am, I am
Bathing in the glory of the Divine.
Infinitely guided
I am, I am
The promise of all that is mine.
To give and to share
To love and to care,
Infinitely connected
I am.
I ask no more
Of where I go,
I sit in presence with you.
I sing your song
And hope before long
My voice becomes a chorus.
Great Spirit
Let your love shine forth through me
For all to see
The beauty of your eternal presence.
